Willem Pro4 Isp Software Solution
By: zombezoo - 2008-06-27 19:25:23 I received a Willem Pro 4 ISP for Christmas for reprogramming EProms for my car. I have tried over the last few months to successfully program a blank M87C257 chip purchased from Mouser.

I have several along with a UV Eraser and have had limited luck reading the EPROM’s and no luck burning them. I have tried setting the programmer according to the diagram in the willem software and I get unreliable reads from blank chips and if I try to write anything the software immediately errors out.

I have the programmer connected to a laptop and I’m using an external 13.5V DC power supply. I have been working with the forums where people modify the car computers and received some suggestions from them that I tried.
Below is a post I sent to them: -I have decided to try again after a few month break. I purchased a 13.5V DC adapter for my Willem Pro 4ISP Eprom burner. Im using the following settings: DIP settings 1-12: 1-4 OFF, 5-6 ON, 7-8 OFF, 9 ON, 10 OFF, 11 ON, 12 OFF JP 10 Down - 'External Power' JP 11 Down - 'ISP OFF' JP 6/7 Down/UP - 'VPP Voltage' 12.5V (I have tried Down/Down - VPP Voltage 15V) JP 8 Down - 'VCC Voltage' 5V JP 9 Up - 'VCC Voltage 3v3' 3.3V Jumpers to right of chipsocket - set according to graphic in software Jumper to left of DIPs 1-12 - Bottom two pins shorted top pin open Willem Software version 0.98D8 The DIP 1-12 are set as recommended by a previous post. When I set DIP 1-12 as the software calls for, I get inconsistant CHIP reads and verifys.
Im not sure what Im missing here, I cant seem to get the chip to program. I can read, verify blank, load a CAL but as soon as I try to write it, it immediately fails. By: zombezoo - 2008-06-28 01:46:22I have tried to read the chip using what I think are the default settings. The bottom of the unit has a dip switch guide that label the different jumpers and switches. Its a little misleading since Im not sure if the white section is the selected position or if the black portion represents the selected position but I have tried both ways.
With DIP switches 1-12 set according to the graphic in my previous post, I get different data each time I read a chip. I never get a blank read even after using a UV eraser for 20 minutes. Im not sure where my problem lies but I need some help narrowing it down. The programmer is new purchased direct from willem.org site, the EPROMs are new purchased direct from Mouser, the EPROM eraser was purchased used from Ebay. It appears to be a commercial UV Eraser designed to erase EPROMs.
